Kano Speaker, Alhaji Abdullahi Yusuf Ata has been removed from office this morning.
Twenty seven out of the 44 lawmakers endorsed his impeachment this morning during the prelinery.
The house subsequently elected Kabiru Alhassan Rurum as new speaker.

The head of South Africa’s Democratic Alliance (DA) opposition party, Mmusi Maimane has stepped down from the position. Maimane in a statement on Wednesday said he wanted to build a party that represents all South Africans, particularly black citizens of the country. It however, became clear to him over the last months that some members of his party did not share in his vision. Consequently, he stepped down as head of the party after four years, the 39-year-old said. The DS is still seen as the party of the white minority in spite of the leadership of Maimane, who is black.
