Buhari's fight against corruption inappropriate, Baba Ahmed

A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)'s presidential aspirant, Dr Datti Baba-Ahmed has said that the method and approach adopted by President Muhammadu Buhari in fighting corruption are inappropriate and cannot yield positive results.
Speaking to newsmen in Kano, Baba-Ahmed said Buhari should have start the crusade with people serving under his administration before extending investigation to those that served under previous governments.
Dr Baba-Ahmed said logically, the president should have investigate all the corrupt people in his cabinet before investigating those that served under previous governments.
He alleged that, "Buhari-led government is also corrupt because the APC was sponsored with looted money to form government in 2015. Two serving ministers in Buhari's government, Fashola and Amechi have been rewarded with juicy ministries as a result of their financial contributions to Buhari and APC during 2015 elections.
"One of the effective ways of fighting corruption is to stop inflation of government contracts because this is what give rise to poverty, hunger, insecurity and increase in prices of commodities in the country. So, by removing away inflation of government contracts, you address these vices," he said.
Dr Baba-Ahmed recalled that in 2004, he had sponsored a bill in the NASS on how to stop inflation of government contracts and if elected president of Nigeria in 2019, he would introduce measures that would address the menace of corruption effectively.
"All the major problems that are bedeviling Nigeria namely insecurity, corruption and poor economy can be address through formulation and effective implementation of robust policies. It is just a matter of political will and experience. No responsible government can joke with the issues of insecurity and corruption.
"President Buhari, you have tried, but you cannot do more than what you did. So let me take it from you and continue from where you stopped," he said.
